MIAMI — Best of Boating presented Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA the 2012 Design Achievement Award at the Miami International Boat Show today for their new 19-foot boat series that includes the Yamaha SX190 and Yamaha AR190 models.

According to Best of Boating field producer Raul Garza, “Yamaha’s new 19-foot boats maximize every inch of the deck in a way no other boat manufacturer has done before. From the wide bow and roomy cockpit to Yamaha’s signature stern lounge area; these boats rival most 21-foot boats and certainly redefine the 19-foot runabout category.”

Beginning at the bow, the Yamaha 190 Series offers plenty of space for two adults to stretch out comfortably. A “molded in” anchor locker is included with ample space for the anchor and rope all in one self draining compartment. On the port side of the bow, the storage under the seat opens into a cavernous console storage compartment for extra long items.

The cockpit area and helm of the Yamaha boats is a step up too. The SX190 comes with two captain’s seats and U-shaped bench seating while the watersports AR190 sports one captain’s seat and J-shaped seating, which is more convenient for the observer. The floor locker in the cockpit is the largest and longest in the category delivering plenty of room to store bulky watersports gear. Quality snap-in marine carpeting and advanced helm features that include Cruise Assist and 3-position No Wake Mode come standard on both models. The AR190 also includes a fold-down aluminum watersports tower.

Like all Yamaha boats, the SX190 and AR190 boats feature Yamaha’s award-winning stern lounge area and swim platform made possible by Yamaha’s drive train and compact engine that sits low in the hull. Stern features include a walk-over transom, integrated cup holders, a ski tow eye, wet storage, a reboarding ladder, and upholstered backrests.

The heart of these models is Yamaha’s jet drive propulsion system and 1.8L Yamaha marine engine. According to Yamaha, the 190 boats provide a cruising range of 130 miles at approximately 4.5 miles per gallon. Both models are rated for 8 passengers. The MSRP of the SX190 is $24,999 and the watersports AR190 is $26,999.
